Sync User Photos from Entra ID (Microsoft)

Note: A Microsoft Entra ID admin account is required for this setup.

Spreadly offers an HR integration that automatically pulls user photos from Microsoft Entra ID. This keeps user avatars in Spreadly aligned with the profile pictures already used in Entra ID.

To enable the integration:

Go to Team.
Open Members.
Click HR Integrations.
Search for Entra ID.
Connect User Photos (Entra ID) using a Microsoft admin user.

How the sync works

Once connected, Spreadly will regularly sync user photos from Entra ID.

Because Microsoft applies heavy rate limits to this integration, Spreadly also shows how long it currently takes on average to update photos for all users.

Default behavior

By default, user photos are only synced from Entra ID until a user manually uploads their own avatar in Spreadly.

As soon as a user uploads a profile picture manually, their avatar will no longer be synced from Entra ID.

Always overwrite user avatars

If you enable Always overwrite user avatars, the photo from Entra ID will always replace the user's current avatar.

This also applies if the user uploads their own image manually — the Entra ID photo will continue to overwrite it during sync.
